Mysore:

A city of kings, this city was the capital of the "Kingdom of Mysore" right upto the independence of our country in 1947. About 150kms south-west from the city of Bangalore, Mysore has many historical attractions like the Amba Vilas Palace, the Jaganmohana Palace, the Jayalakshmi Vilas and the Lalitha Mahal. Apart from palaces and history, Mysore has now gained popularity for yoga related health tourism.

Himadev Gopalaswamy Betta:

This is the highest hill in the Bandipur National Park and is most popular for its Krishna temple that was built by the Hoysala King Chola Bhallala as early as 1315 AD. Today, not only is the temple frequently visited by a plethora of devotees, it also is visited by a plethora of elephants and other interesting wildlife that make the Bandipur National Park their home.

The Nilgiris:

The Nilgiris mountain range derive their name because they have a blue tinge that comes as the Kurunji flowers that bloom here once every 12 years and give a blue-ish tinge to the mountain range. Nilgiris form the southern part of the Western Ghats, and start right at the junction of the trio states of Karnataka, Kerela and Tamil Nadu. The valleys and the mountains are one of the most sought after destinations in South India - known for its varied Wildlife, Birds as well as Natural beauty.

Here are a few must-see places in the Nilgiris:

InnTheWild, Masinagudi:

Our resort, InnTheWild, is located just 250Kms from Bangalore near a small town called Masinagudi. Located right in the valleys of the southernmost tip of the Nilgiris, InnTheWild gives you a wilderness experience that you will cherish for a lifetime. The travel time is approx 4-5 hours along the Bangalore-Ooty road and you come across some some beautiful wildlife as you start closing into Masinagudi. Among all the Masinagudi Jungle Resorts - InnTheWild is one of best hotels in Masinagudi, located 3km inside the forest, we are completely surrounded by the wilderness of Mudumalai Tiger Reserve, South India. Further the Bandipur Tiger Reserve is only another 45kms from here and we can arrange for Safaris even there. At InnTheWild we offer rustic rooms, fun wildlife activities and an unforgettable gastronomical experience. No fencing. No electric barricades only makes the stay more adventurous. A small waterhole within the resort campus itself, InnTheWild gives you the perfect setting for spotting wildlife from within your room itself! Don't believe us? Take a look at the pictures given below. These photographs were clicked by the resort staff in the resort premises itself. To maximize your Jungle Safari Adventure, please plan to stay for a minimum of two nights.

Ooty:

Udhagamandalam (or Ootacamund) or more popularly called Ooty, needs no introduction. One of the best known hill stations in South India, Ooty has been popular due to its European roots during the reign of the East India Company in the late 18th century. With a plethora of historical sites and natural beauty, it is no surprise that Ooty is one of the most popular destinations.

Coonoor:

Another little lesser known destination is Coonoor. Perched at roughly 1800 meters above sea-level, it's the second largest hill station in the Nilgiris, after Ooty. Over the years Coonoor is gaining popularity, because the main Ooty town has gotten quiet polluted and noisy. Coonoor on the other hand, is more pristene and less densely populated. Further there are some very interesting trekking expeditions into the Nilgiris that get conducted from here. We recommend driving through Ooty, but making Coonoor your 2nd stop after visiting InnTheWild, Masinagudi.
